CASA RICCIARELLI
Welcome to "Casa Ricciarelli":
originally these were two adjacent twin houses built in 1898 by the brothers Cesare and Raffaello Ricciarelli.
For many years Raffaello’s property was the headquarters of the "Carabinieri"
and a couple of the rooms were transformed into cells.
Whilst Cesare held a managerial role in the nearby Siele mines, where, for a long time,
the cinnabar was mined and from which the mercury was then obtained.
The house has had an important history in the country both for its central location but also during the early 1900’s, as it was the first property to have electricity. The only lamp on the main street was lit from the dining room, furthermore it was also the first house to have running water. Today, you will find that there is still wallpaper from the 1920’s in part of the property on the ground floors. In addition to which there are cast iron radiators, handcrafted furniture and a large bathroom with tub.
In the bedrooms you will find an ancient object: the "Priest" which was used, in cold winters,
to warm the beds before going to sleep.
The house has undergone renovations while maintaining the ancient atmosphere of the early 1900s.
Welcome to “Casa Ricciarelli”!
